Settlement reached in fishing boat sinking that claimed two lives in Maine
A settlement of $360,000 was agreed to between the owner and insurer of a commercial fishing vessel and the estates of 2 crewmen who died when the 45 foot lobster NO LIMITS boat capsized last fall off the coast of Maine. The captain managed to survive by climbing onto the overturned hull. Two hours later – the EPIRB and liferaft came to the surface and alerted the Coast Guard. After the rescue, the Coast Guard and Maine Marine Patrol searched for 17 hours for the other 2 crewmen.
The Coast Guard casualty report on this accident has not been completed.
