Sinking into history: disaster claims the Cedarville

Fifty years ago today the SS CEDARVILLE sank after a collision with the Norwegian freighter SS TOPDALSFJORD near the Mackinaw Bridge in Michigan. The casualty was caused by a failure to communicate adequately between the 2 ships. Ten of the 35 crewmembers of the CEDARVILLE died. The Detroit News has an article today titled “Sinking into history: disaster claims the Cedarville” in which a former crewmember recalls that day.
