Coast Guard orders fishing boat into Port Angeles because of safety violations
The Coast Guard ordered the 28 foot commercial fishing vessel ENFORCER to return to port because the vessel did not have any personal flotation devices on board. Beginning on October 15, 2015, the Coast Guard is going to require all commercial fishing vessels operating more than 3 miles offshore to have a fishing vessel decal on board indicating that the vessel is in compliance with the legal requirements for the vessel. While this will help prevent the loss of life for those that are able to use the lifesaving equipment on board – actual design, construction, and maintenance standards for existing commercial fishing vessels will not be legally required until 2020.
